For more than 45 years, the Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Bookfest has been bringing together readers, families and bargain hunters from across the Darling Downs. What began as a community book sale has grown into one of the region's most loved annual events, celebrating a shared love of reading while raising funds for vital local services.

Whether you attended, purchased books, volunteered your time, donated items, or helped spread the word, you played a part in making our 45th Bookfest a wonderful success. 

Every book purchased helps support Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland's counselling, crisis support, and community programs, with funds remaining in our local region to support people when they need it most. 

While the final page has been turned on our 2026 event, the story isn't over yet. 

Bookfest will return in 2027! 

We'll be back with thousands of pre-loved books, puzzles, games and hidden treasurers, so keep an eye on this page and our social media channels for event announcements, dates and opportunities to get involved.
